1. Shell Ridge Open Space

Location: 1035 Castle Rock Rd, Walnut Creek

Pets: OK on leash, Beware wildlife (coyotes, cattle, etc.)

Parking: No Fee

1,420 acres of open land! Multiple trail heads with parking perfect for hiking, biking, and equestrians. Featuring Borges Ranch & Howe Homestead Park!





2. Diablo Foothills Regional Park

Location: 1700 Castle Rock Rd, Walnut Creek

Pets: OK on leash, Beware wildlife (coyotes, cattle, etc.)

Parking: No Fee

*Some parts are closed due to storm damage* 1,060 acres of beautiful land with panoramic views of Mt. Diablo and it's surroundings! 



3. Castle Rock Regional Recreational Area

Location: 1700 Castle Rock Rd, Walnut Creek

Pets: OK on Leash

Parking: No Fee

Wheelchair accessible! Adjacent to Diablo Foothills, dominated by Oak Tree's and Gorgeous Sandstone! Perfect for events of 300 or more people, as well as small picnics! Also has a swimming pool!







4. Iron Horse Regional Trail

Location:  Marsh Drive near Buchanan Field Airport (Concord) and Valley Ave & Busch Rd. (Pleasanton)

Pets: OK on Leash

Parking: No Fee

The trail is 20 feet wide and connects residential, commercial, business parks, schools, public transportation, open space, parks, and other regional parks!




5. Lime Ridge Open Space

Location: Ygnacio Valley Road or Valley Vista Road, Walnut Creek

Pets: OK on Leash, Beware wildlife (coyotes, cattle, etc.)

Parking: No Fee

Enjoy 1,226 acres of land with 25 miles of trails! Trailheads in Walnut Creek and in Concord. Amazing for hiking and biking! Also features some rope swings!
